The Friends of Historic Saugerties is a community group whose mission it is to make local history accessible to the community through educational initiatives including shared inquiry, exploration of resources, and programs for learning and discovery.

We thank the Saugerties Public Library for the use of the Community Room and for their consistent support and encouragement. We are also grateful for the knowledgeable, committed, and enthusiastic people who provided us with months of informative and interesting presentations.
Thanks to Michael Sullivan Smith for his treasure trove of historic material and knowledge, and for the creation of several of the formats that will be posted on this site, and to Chester Hartwell, as well, for maintaining an enriching archive of photos, postcards, maps, and other documents of interest.
